PatientCare Logistics Solutions has been proudly providing ambulance service in Pinellas County, Florida under the name Sunstar Paramedics since 2004. Sunstar is the exclusive ambulance provider in the Public Utility Model system, providing ALS 9-1-1 ambulance response and transport, ALS and BLS interfacility ambulance transportation, Critical Care Transport 9-1-1 and interfacility services, and Mental Health Transport. As the sole provider of ambulance services, Sunstar collaborates with 18 fire departments to serve the nearly one million residents in Florida’s most densely populated county. Our workforce of about 725 dedicated employees and a fleet of 91 ambulances transport approximately 185,000 patients per year.

Sunstar Paramedics is nationally recognized and highly accredited. Sunstar has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) since 2000. The Critical Care Transport program staffed with a critical care nurse, paramedic, and EMT has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Services (CAMTS) since 2006. The communication center has been an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) since 2003. We’re one of only three services in the United States to hold all three accreditations.
Sunstar Paramedics was a Florida Governor Sterling Award Recipient for performance excellence in 2009 and the agency continues to use the Malcolm Baldrige criteria as the quality management system.
Sunstar has achieved the American Ambulance Association (AAA) AMBY award in 2015, 2017, and 2018.

Our ambulance are equipped with state of the art equipment including Philips MRX cardiac monitors with QCPR measurement and feedback system and 12 lead transmission capability, Surface Pro laptops for electronic patient care reporting, Stryker power stretchers, and Inthinc driver monitoring system.
One of only 88 dispatch centers in the world named as an Accredited Center of Excellence by the National Academies of Emergency Medical Dispatch, the Sunstar Emergency Communication Center is recognized as one of the best dispatch centers in the world. We utilize advanced computer-aided dispatch systems, GPS technology and system status management to cover all of Pinellas County quickly and effectively.
Our experienced staff of paramedics and emergency medical technicians/dispatchers oversees the operations of 91 ambulances and processes more than 500 calls per day.
